Howdy folks!
This is Chase emailing to remind y'all that we will be having a meeting after school tomorrow in Room 308. MCC is in just around 3 weeks, however because of President's Day we only have two Mondays until we are there. So here is just another reminder to mark February 24th and 25th as MCC. Tomorrow is going to be a very chill and down to earth meeting, we want to know what you guys think you need help with and then work from there. We can do lessons of what we think is best as a group, and then plan for the next meeting as well. Have a great rest of your Sunday, and see you tomorrow. Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His HELLO WMUNERS!
Normally when someone asks you to finish up some work and get it in on time, it can feel like a drag. So instead, I'M GOING TO HYPE YOU UP! You need to have both policy statements and a resolution done by Monday, January 30th. BY DOING THIS YOU WILL BE SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT YOUR COUNTRY AND READY TO ABSOLUTELY SOAR AT MCC! You also need the paper photo release signed and ready to be submitted. THAT WAY YOUR EXCELLENT DIPLOMACY CAN BE IMMORTALIZED! Please come in on Monday with everything done, however if you need some very minor adjustments or help on your documents that is okay and we can help you. TOGETHER WE CAN GET YOUR DOCS READY AND SENT ON THEIR WAY TO YOUR CHAIRS! Alrighty, we will see you all at Monday's meeting to submit documents to MCC. Remember, you must have this done on time to be eligible for awards! LETS GO! WESTWOOD FOR THE WIN! Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His WAR EAGLE! Hello WMUNers!
I hope you had a great week off and that you are ready to get back into the swing of things. We are now in a dead sprint towards MCC, and we have to get documents ready to submit. How we do this is in Country Packets. A country packet consists of both your policy statements, a resolution about one of the issues you will tackle in committee, and a signed photo release. If you are in ICJ or World Press, I encourage you to check out the submission forms and start getting your documents in order. Here is the page with the submission form for each committee. https://www.mesacc.edu/departments/social-science/model-un/sonoran-desert-conference/submitting-documents All Country Packets are due Monday, January 30th, 2023. Submitting your Country Packet is crucial as you cannot go to the conference if you do not submit this packet. This year, each delegate is responsible for submitting their own files to MCC through the form above. So here is our plan to give you support in getting this done: JANUARY 23RD MEETING - We re-teach the basics of writing resolutions, and give you time to ask us questions and write your resolutions. You will also be given the Photo Release form to get signed in time for the next meeting. JANUARY 30TH MEETING - This is an extremely important meeting! We will all meet in Room 308 to make any last minute changes to your policy statements and resolutions, and then we will help each of you upload your Country Packets. If you miss this meeting, or if you still need to work on your documents, you will have to submit your packet from home by 11:59 that night. You will need to bring your signed Photo Release. Thank you for your patience, please reach out to me if you have any questions or need any help, and have a great rest of your Sunday. Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His Howdy WMUNers!
I hope you all had an absolutely wonderful break! We have a very eventful 3rd quarter ahead of us, so I am going to lay out some updates and deadlines in this email. We will be having our first meeting of the 2nd Semester this Monday, January 9th in Room 308. We will be focusing on the 3rd paragraph of our 2nd Policy Statements. I often think that this paragraph is the easiest to complete, as you have done the research for the previous two and can say the policy that your country would like to pursue. We will be having work time tomorrow, and you can ask the officers any questions you would like. Once you finish up the 3rd paragraph, that means you are officially done with your second policy statement! Both policy statements will officially be due on January 27th. However, if you would like the opportunity to have an officer read over your policy statement and provide written feedback, please send your policy statement to ModelunWestwood@gmail.com by January 17th. If you send it to us by this date, we will read it and give you some suggestions on how to improve before we submit it to MCC. Finally, we need everyone that is going to MCC to pay their $50 fee in the bookstore ASAP! You must pay this to attend the conference, as it covers your food and the cost for MCC to put on the event. Please pay this quickly, and bring the receipt to Mr. Buck. Additionally, if you are going to Madrid, an update has been sent out about payments. Please pay in full by the end of January. Have a great Sunday and see you all tomorrow! Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His Good afternoon WMUNers!
Here it is, the last week of the semester! I know times are stressful, so to conclude the year we will be having a Model UN holiday party for tomorrow's meeting! Per usual, Room 308 after school. However, once the meeting starts, we will be voting on which Model UN themed TV show episodes we will be watching. The choices are from Parks and Recreation, Community, and The Simpsons. However if you know of another depiction of Model UN in pop culture, we are open to suggestions. We will see you there tomorrow WMUNers and have a great Sunday! Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His Hello WMUNers!
This is going to be a very short email, we will be meeting tomorrow after school in Room 308 per usual. We will be focusing on the 2nd paragraph of our 2nd policy statements. It will be a very chill research/work day and the officers will have the time to assist you in finding sources/info. Also, make sure to pay the $50 payment for the MCC Sonoran Desert Conference by the end of the semester. Have a great Sunday! Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His I hope all you WMUNers had an excellent Thanksgiving break and we are now ready to head into this full on sprint of the last 3 weeks of the semester! Prepare yourselves, because your classes and clubs during this time are going to feel like light speed.
As you've heard me say a thousand times before, we will be having a Model UN meeting after school on Monday in Room 308. Now that we have learned a bit more about our first policy statements and how to improve them, it's time to jump into policy statement number 2! We are going to do this one piecemeal, so our meeting on Monday will be focusing on the first paragraph. As the first paragraph is on the action of the UN as a whole in the past, we will be working together in our committee groups tomorrow to accomplish this. We will give you whiteboards, resources, and make sure that an officer is able to assist you with research. Now, as we are heading into the end of the semester, here is the timeline up until Winter Break: Monday, 11/28/22 - MUN Meeting, 2nd Policy Statement, 1st Paragraph Monday, 12/5/22 - MUN Meeting, 2nd Policy Statement, 2nd Paragraph Monday, 12/12/22 - MUN Meeting, Holiday Party, $50 MCC Money Due in Bookstore We expect you to write the third paragraph of your 2nd Policy Statement over break, and to come back to our first meeting on Monday, January 9th, 2023 with a rough draft ready to go over. I am giving you this heads up now so that it won't be a big surprise on the last day of the semester. Other than that, we will see you tomorrow for our meeting! Sincerely, Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His Howdy WMUNers!
We will be meeting tomorrow after school in Room 308, per usual. The activity for tomorrow's meeting will be peer reviewing our policy statements. Now that we have finished WMUN, done some more background on our countries, and can see MCC on the horizon we can look back at our first policy statements and do some revisions. Carter also has some notes and feedback on your policy statements from your chairs at WMUN that we will give out. For MCC you will be submitting a revised version of your first policy statement, and an additional one on your second issue in your committee. Therefore, it is super important we do some revisions and can see some of our past mistakes now that we have a little more skill and experience as delegates. It is super important that you come with your laptop and ready to focus on our meeting tomorrow, as you will be paired up with someone else, given a rubric, and then asked to grade your partner's policy statement. For our new delegates, Evan will be teaching you how to write a policy statement during this time and how to find new resources. This is a great moment of reflection for all of us and we can't wait to see y'all there tomorrow! Sincerely, President Chase H. Baugh Westwood High School He/Him/His Hello WMUNers!
This is our regular reminder email that we will be having a meeting after school tomorrow in Room 308! This meeting we will be doing a competitive game to help create some better understanding about the countries we are representing and the issues that they face. Everyone will be split into their committee groups and the committee that finishes the fastest (and is still accurate) wins! After this we are going to transition back into policy statement writing in the next few weeks to really ensure that we are ready for MCC. We will see you tomorrow delegates! Sincerely, Chase H.
